New Orleans Pelicans fans felt they were watching part of a movie during the halftime segment of the game, and that is exactly what was happening.
In the middle of the game, Hollywood funny man, Will Ferrell, drunkenly stumbled onto the court, and started ranting to the crowd about how, “I love my kids. And if anyone was to ever do anything to them, I would hurt them. I’d freaking hurt them.”
Many were confused about the actor’s actions, but it was later revealed that Ferrell was actually shooting a scene from his upcoming film Daddy’s Home.
In the movie, Ferrell plays an uptight executive who marries a divorced woman with two kids. Things get shaky when Ferrell’s new spouse, washed up ex-husband, comes back to town, and gets in the middle of the newly formed family. The film reunites Farrell and Wahlberg who starred together as partners in The Other Guys.
A patron in the audience took a cell phone video about the event, which shows Will Ferrell attempting to make a half court shot, after having an altercation with his co-star, Wahlberg. The clips indicates that wife, played by Linda Cardellini, is debating which man to choose, and when Ferrel is yelling at Wahlberg he makes it clear that he slept with Wahlberg’s ex-wife the night before, by stating, “so even if Sarah does pick you, you’re gonna have to be stepdad to my kid and you’re gonna see what it feels like, alright?”
After Ferrell said his words, he then attempted to take the shot. He accidentally pegs a cheerleader in the face. Ferrell was then led out of the stadium by security, where he exclaims, “You know what? I don’t even like fajitas!”
While many people were shocked, others were not because Ferrell has been known to cause public scenes like this without notice. He commits himself, and does whatever he can to get a reaction from the audience, and what better way to get an authentic reaction, then to surprise a crowd like this.
