The world lost one of the greatest comedian and performer of the past century last year, and while the world is able to hold onto the memories of his legacy through his films, his family on the other hand is after something else a little more material.
Williams’ wife, Susan, filed forms with the San Francisco Superior Court in December and is currently trying to take possession of jewelry, memorabilia and other items that were taken from the families home without permission.
William’s children say the story is just a little different. Zachary, Zelda and Cody Williams, state that Susan is “adding insult to a terrible injury.” They claim that William’s latest wife is trying to change the trust agreement William’s left behind involving the late actor’s possessions.
An attorney speaking on the children’s behalf released a statement on their behalf, it reads, “The Williams’ children are heartbroken that Petitioner, Mr. Williams’ wife of less than three years, has acted against his wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate.”
According to James Wagstaffe, an attorney for Susan Williams, claims that his client is just making sure that the late actor’s belongings end up in the right hands and where they were meant to be.
“This is not ugly. I would not say this is anticipated to be a highly contested proceeding,” stated Wagstaffe.
The William’s Trust that was set up by William’s entitled the children to countless amount of memorabilia and awards the actor earned over the years, but Susan claims that the actor wanted her to continue to live in the Tiburon home, where the couple last lived. That is why she believes that the belongings left in that home should stay there, and that the children should take what was left in the families other home in Napa.
The children do not agree with the lawyers and the widows interpretation of the trust and will continue to battle for the possessions.
