Elon Musk and Linda Yaccarino, owner and Chief Executive of X respectively, will jointly oversee the trust and safety team at the company formerly known as Twitter, according to an announcement made by the social media concern on Monday. Musk will be in charge of X’s product and engineering team, while Yaccarino will have oversight of all other divisions, including human resources, legal, finance, sales, and operations.
The trust and safety team, responsible for content moderation, has faced criticism since Musk acquired the company last October. Researchers have accused X of loosening content guard rails, resulting in an increase in harmful posts. However, the company has maintained that the majority of content views are of “healthy” posts.
In an email shared with RushHourDaily, Yaccarino informed X employees that the company is actively searching for a new leader for brand safety and suitability. A.J. Brown, the previous head of brand safety who worked on preventing advertisements from appearing alongside inappropriate content, left the company last month.
Yaccarino also mentioned in the email that three X leaders will be assigned different responsibilities within the trust and safety team, including law enforcement operations and threat disruptions. These changes come after Ella Irwin resigned as the head of the team in June.
