A “security concern” forces two planes to evacuate upon arrival at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
The two planes involved in the situation were a JetBlue flight from Long Beach, California, and a regional SkyWest jet from Phoenix, according to Airport spokesman Perry Cooper. Cooper also stated that the passengers were bused to their gates from the third runaway almost immediately upon landing.
There has been no notice of what the security concern was and no information regarding the emergency evacuation has been released, but while these two planes were hurrying to get people off in Seattle, a similar situation was occurring in California.
On Sunday afternoon a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to Orlando had to make a diverted landing in Dallas due to what was also deemed a “security concern.”
Morgan Durrant, the spokesperson who spoke with the press about the landing of Flight 1061 in Dallas, did not give much information, but stated all information will be deferred to the authorities. Flights have been delayed, but will continue when all inspections are complete and there is assurance of passenger safety.
Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI in Los Angeles, said online threats targeted the JetBlue and Delta flights. While these planes were allegedly targeted, it still remains unsure if the two incidents in Seattle and Dallas are connected. The Los Angeles plane reportedly did not have any threats against it.
