Five Russian men were arrested on Tuesday in Southern France after they were believed to be preparing for an attack.
A police source stated that four were arrested either in Montpellier or nearby, and another was arrested in Beziers, and were indeed part of the violent Chechen gang.
TV station LCI pointed out that organized crime between and score settling between the Chechen gangs was the alleged reason behind the attack that was being prepared.
While the five men have been detained, a judicial sources stated that, the case still has not been handed to the anti-terrorist section of the Paris prosecutor’s office. The mayor did state that authorities at the site discovered a bountiful of weapons.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry recognized the five men as Russian citizens to French authorities.
France still remains in a very fragile state after the terrorist attack on the Charlie Hebdo office building earlier in the month. The country is on high alert and has a massive amount of security on patrol because of recent events. They have been arresting anyone who is a suspect of aiding or participating in the event that killed 12 people.
While France is acting on high-level security measures, in Russia an estimated 800,000 people gathered in protesting, in the Chechnya region. These citizens believe that the depictions of Muhammad published by Charlie Hebdo were, “vulgar and immoral.”
Paris and nearby countries are in a very unsettling state after the Charlie Hebdo office was attacked. Everyone in the country believes that the threat levels are high, and they should be because of all these protests and alleged gangs and terrorist activity. The satirical publishing magazine, Charlie Hebdo, is the one who has the spotlight on them for causing this chaos, which at this point seems their pressing for freedom of speech resulted in the lives of a lot of citizens being altered.
