Missouri residents, Mark and Brenda Voss have discovered a problem with their new beach vacation home in Ocean Hammock community in Florida. It has a charming view of the Atlantic Ocean, three-stories, five bedrooms, even a game room. What more could you ask for? The only problem is- it was built on the wrong lot.
After six months of renting the home, the Voss family discovered that the lot they actually owned was next door.
“We are in total disbelief, just amazed this could happen,” Voss stated to The Daytona Beach News-Journal. “We may have moved (to Ocean Hammock) someday. But, with this headache and grief, we’re not so sure. The Midwest is looking pretty good right now.”
Builders who are currently at fault for the mishap have contacted other lot owners in attempts to settle the problem outside the courts and without lawyers.
“The buck stops with the builder. We know that. We are in the process of trying to schedule a conference call and find a fair resolution without the lawyers,” Richmond said. “I have built about 600 homes in Flagler County and this has never happened to me before. It does happen, but it’s rare.”
