The state of turmoil in Yemen is very concerning to people all around the world. Not only is the fighting having a bad impact on the government systems of the nation and neighboring countries, but thousands of innocent lives are also being lost. A recent attack has put more people at risk. BBC News is reporting that an airstrike has hit a prison in Yemen. The news has many concerned about what this means for the people of the nation.

News of the airstrike arose around Sunday afternoon. BBC News is reporting that the attack took place in the Western port of Hudaydah on Saturday, and the prison was hit about 3 times. Officials are now saying that several dozens of people were killed in the fatal airstrike. The death toll is estimated at about 60. The city is control of the rebel group known as the Houthi, and among the dead, were some of the rebels as well as several inmates.

The Houthi rebel group has been battling the government of the nation since 2014. This is one of the many airstrikes that have taken place while the battles have gone on. Other nations are even criticizing the use of these airstrikes and how frequent they are.

The building was holding about 84 inmates at the time of the attack. BBC News is also reporting that the rebels who were there were also utilizing the building as housing and for other uses.

Incidents like this that leave people dead are always unfortunate, no matter what the end goal is. The fighting in the nation continues despite the efforts of the UN and others to come up with some form of peace treaty. As the story develops and people search for a way to put an end to the conflict, one can only hope that it can be done as soon as possible.
