In Alaska, voters signed off in November of 2014 to legalize the recreational use of marijuana for people 21 and over. A store named Herbal Outfitters has now opened its doors to more than 250 people who came from all over the state and waited in line that stretched out the door. Herbal Outfitters’ owner Richard Ballow says his store in Valdez accepted customers as planned Saturday, at “high noon,” which is what he named the hour that the store should be open by.
Prior to the opening, Herbal Outfitters’ general manager said that they were expecting people from around the state plan to make the trip for the grand opening. That is exactly what they found. Alaska is officially the third state to legalize weed in the country. When the legalization occurred, the government was sure to place certain rules regarding the use of marijuana such as, smoking in public or driving while smoking are not okay and neither is keeping more than 4 ounces in your house.
However, the rules may or may not change as pot becomes more common and more marijuana stores begin opening doors later on.
