Boris Johnson, UK’s Prime Minister, is now in intensive care as his COVID-19 symptoms worsen. A statement from the UK government confirmed this, stating that his condition worsened on Monday.
Besides, he was admitted to an NHS hospital on Sunday, after his high temperature persisted for days. It followed after his doctors advised that the reasonable thing to do is for him to come to the hospital after reports of his persistent symptoms.
Furthermore, according to the government, Dominic Raab, 46, the Foreign Secretary, will temporarily be in charge of the Prime Minister’s duties. She will be in charge till Boris Johnson is well.

Meanwhile, a statement from a spokesman for No 10 Downing Street says, “since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus.”
The statement added that Johnson’s condition worsened throughout Monday afternoon.
Therefore, on the advice of his medical team, he was taken to the intensive care unit of the hospital.
Moreover, the statement added that the PM asked Dominic Raab, the Foreign Secretary, who happens to be the first secretary of state, to stand in for him.
Also, the statement says that Boris Johnson is receiving excellent care. It ended by thanking all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.
Boris Johnson transferred to ICU
The decision to take Johnson to ICU was on precautionary measures, in case he needs ventilators. The time was 7 p.m GMT when they transferred him, and he was still conscious then.
Johnson, 55, tested positive for COVID-19 on March 26.
However, earlier on, his spokesperson told people to be cautious of the media reports that claimed Johnson was getting oxygen treatment. But he didn’t answer direct questions whether he had pneumonia.
Robert Peston, an ITV, and the Times newspaper correspondent earlier stated that Johnson was receiving oxygen.
On Monday, Raab, headed the government’s emergency COVID-19 meeting.
