Canon’s got a trio of new Powershots that are poised to capture a chunk of the recently top-selling, high-end point-and-shoot cameras. On the Canon Powershot G7X, the LCD screen can flip all of 180 degrees to ensure that you can take selfies that will draw hundreds of likes. Wi-Fi and NFC (near-field communication) seem like worthy extras to keep you social media-connected.
The G7X features Canon’s newest image processor, the DIGIC (digital imaging core) 6 improves low-light performance up to ISO 6400 with reduced noise. In movie mode, DIZGIC 6 enables recording in MP4 format at 60 frames per second at 1080p. Image stabilizations is boosted from the DIGIC 6 as well. The autofocus features 31 focal points. It’ll be available in October for $699.
A 180-degree folding LCD screen is also featured on the Powershot N2, the successor to the Powershot N. For further ease of use, you can snap a picture simply by touching the focus ring around the lens. The slim N2 can capture 1080p video at 30fps while implementing 16.1 megapixels. It comes out in December and is priced at $299.
The Canon SX60HS dwarfs both previous cameras, just as a “super-zoom” point-and-shoot camera should. It boasts zoom capability that tops out at 65x. Additionally, it can maintain an f/6.5 aperture at maximum zoom. Zoom Frame Assist will stay glued to a subject you’re tracking and zoom out when it moves out of the frame. It zooms back in with a touch of the screen. The SX60HS costs $549 and will be available in October.
