Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement to sign French defender Axel Disasi from Monaco in Ligue 1. The deal is said to be worth £45 million ($49.58 million) and Disasi will provide cover for his injured compatriot Wesley Fofana. Disasi will be competing for the center back position alongside Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, and Levi Colwill, while Benoit Badiashile is also expected to return from injury early in the season. Fofana is likely to miss a significant portion of the season due to ACL reconstruction surgery. Disasi has already earned four caps for France and made his debut in the 2022 World Cup defeat against Tunisia. Chelsea, who finished 12th in the standings last season, are aiming to improve their performance under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
