Marc Guggenheim, the executive producer from the CW’s DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, previewed in a recent Variety magazine interview a fun and lighter second season for the series.
Guggenheim started his interview with the Variety reporter about the series’ first season. He stated that the show revolved around the destruction of the team’s villain Vandal Savage. The executive producer commented that the Legends of Tomorrow team decided to look over what worked and what didn’t work in their first season.
This season, Guggenheim admitted that it is freeing to not have their main heroes chasing Savage and it gives them a chance to create new and improved storylines. The producer commented that Legends of Tomorrow has become a fun show for him to write and produce. He also stated that he and the production team want to keep this fun and lively aspect throughout their new season.
The one thing that Guggenheim and the team are dedicated to present their new main cast members to their fans and further explore the DC Comic universe with season two.
This year, Legends of Tomorrow is bringing in DC Comic’s Justice Society characters into the new plot. When asked about their decision to bring in DC Comic’s character Rex Tyler,Guggenheim stated that he had a long and detailed conversation with Geoff Johns, who is the DC Comic’s President and CCO. The executive producer stated that they had to ask permission from the DC Comic President to add another popular character to their series. Although, Guggenheim commented, he had to ask Johns which DC comic characters were available to use on their show or not for Legends of Tomorrow’s new season.
The reported asked what characters the team is excited for their viewers to see and Guggenhiem answered that he is excited for Obsideian to be presented on Legends of Tomorrow. He was reluctant to talk about the character’s powers and their interpretation of their new hero character, but Guggenhiem commented that everything came out well for their new character.
With this new season, Guggenhiem stated that a lot of their fans are also fans of their fellow superhero CW series Arrow and The Flash. Since they all are introducing their viewers to a lot of new characters, Legends of Tomorrow plans to introduce their new key players carefully.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow returns this Thursday for their season two premiere at 7pm central time.
