The Oscar-nominated star, who is best known for his role in the superhit film Juno has announced on Tuesday that he is transgender and introduced himself as Elliot Page on her social media handle. He took to Twitter and said in a heartfelt post that it is the best feeling to “finally love who I am” and to pursue his authentic self.
He added, “I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer.” Apart from telling her personal experience, the Umbrella Academy star used his post to address the discrimination towards trans people.

The 33-years-old star further wrote in his Twitter post “The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared. I’m scared of the invasiveness, the hate, the ‘jokes’ and of violence.” While addressing the trans community in his post, Elliot vowed to do everything that she can to make this world a better place.

With her exceptional performance in 2007’s film Juno, Elliot Page rose to the limelight and starred in numerous other big projects, including The Inception and X-men series. Only recently, he starred in a Netflix original series ‘The Umbrella Academy.’
In 2014, he publicly came out as gay and told the world that he was tired of hiding his true self. Elliot tied the knot with a famous choreographer, Emma Portner. Following his announcement on Tuesday, many co-stars praised the young actor.
The director of transgender media at advocacy group GLAAD Nick Adams said, “Elliot Page has given us fantastic characters on-screen, and has been an outspoken advocate for all LGBTQ people.” In response to Elliot’s tweet, Netflix wrote, “we are proud of our superhero” and added that they cannot wait to have him on the third season of the Umbrella Academy.
