Emilia Clarke has reportedly joined the cast of the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo spinoff film.

Clarke is set to star alongside Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover in the new film. Ehrenreich is set to portray Han Solo and Glover is set to portray a young Lando Calrissian.

All three leads for the Han Solo film allegedly endured through grueling testing sessions for their parts. The auditions and tests date back to the beginning of the year. Reportedly there have been thousands of meetings and reading for the role of the main character Han Solo, which Ehrenreich earned.

Reportedly Tessa Thompson, the star of Creed and Selma, tried out for the female lead of the Han Solo film. Other actresses that tried out for the female role was Power Rangers actress Naomi Scott and Zoe Kravitz. The actresses allegedly started auditioning for the part this past October.

Another group, which included Clarke, Dope’s Kiersey Clemons, Game of Thrones Jessica Henwick, and Adria Aronja also auditioned for the role. The group of actresses reportedly tested for the role in London around October too. Ultimately Emilia Clarke won the part after many auditions.

The new film is set to be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Lord and Miller are reportedly penning the script to Disney. Allegedly the casting crew and the film’s directors only had a September group of actresses to test for the role. Although they decided to have one more round of actresses before making their final choice.

The movie’s storyline will be set prior to the Star Wars: A New Hope Film. The same goes for the new Star Wars: Rogue One film that will premiere this coming December 16th.

Kathleen Kennedy and Allison Shearmur are set to produce the stand alone film. The Han Solo Film is also expected to start production this coming January.

Emilia Clarke is currently filming for the seventh season of Game of Thrones. Clarke has earned her third Emmy nomination for her work on the popular HBO series.

The Star Wars Han Solo spinoff film is set to premiere in theaters on May 25th, 2018.
