Leaders across the globe are often respected and loved by the people of the nation. When these leaders pass, the legacy they leave behind often is often the first thing people start to think about. Unfortunately, this is the case for one of the leaders of the Middle East. BBC News is reporting that Shimon Peres, the former president and prime minister of Israel has died. This news has left many people in the nation with mixed emotions.

Shimon Peres lived a full and very successful life. BBC News reports that the man died at the age of 93. Peres had a stroke about 2 weeks ago that severely affected his health. Though he signed some signs of improvement very recently, he suddenly started to regress and passed away.

Peres lived a very full and successful life. Not only did Shimon Peres serve as the prime minister of the country twice, but he was also around for the new era of the nation in 1948 and served as president once. Peres is also a Nobel peace prize winner. He was given the award in 1994 for his work in negotiating peace accords with the Palestinians. Peres is known for his belief that the Palestinians and the Israelis could have a good relationship.

Notable leaders have been commenting on the loss of this great political leader. Not only has the current prime minister of Israel expressed his deep sadness over the loss of Peres, but Barack Obama has as well. BBC News is also stating that Obama has called Peres a dear friend and inspiration.

The loss of Peres will be felt by people all over the world. The man served as an example of everything a leader could and should be. One can only hope that his legacy will be filled with the same great leadership and guidance.
