During the early hours of Tuesday morning, a hostage situation in Sydney erupted in gun fire as hostages ran to escape. Police stormed the Lindt Chocolat Cafe after a long night of communication with Man Haron Monis, the Iranian gunman.
According to New South Wales State Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione, “They made the call because they believed that at that time, if they didn’t enter, there would have been many more lives lost.”
