When the temperature drops many rush to their closets in hopes of finding layers to wear out in the bitter cold. Some may be fully prepared for what winter has in store, others not. With endless supply of boots, sweaters, coats, tights, and leggings, anyone can look at their closet and say that they are winter ready. Others wait until the temperature drops to finally rush to the store and stock up on winter apparel and accessories. Either way having a nice stock of winter apparel at hand can shield anyone from the cold. Being able to layer multiple pieces of clothing is a winter luxury.
But sometimes one can get lost underneath all of those layers. Now you may be thinking that this is the point of layering, to get lost underneath lots of layers so that you can secure warmth. This is true but to keep your style identity there must be some shape among all of those layers. One way to create shape under lots of layers is using a belt. Not a thin one but a wide belt that really captures all of the layers under it’s claws. There are a lot of wide belts available on the market. Some are embellished with rhinestones, some feature a bold print, and others are solid colored. It is important to choose a belt that can compliment all of your winter apparel. Usually a neutral color is best to invest in when it comes to purchasing a belt. Select taupe, gray, or black as the color for your wide cinched belt. Pair this neutral colored belt with bold brights. Another way to create shape underneath lots of layers is through fitted clothing. Make sure that the base of your outfit is fitted. So if you are wearing jeans and a tank top as your first layer of clothing, make sure both are well fitted. You can add bulk to the second and third layers by adding a chunky knit sweater or wide coat. Keep all of these layers close together by belting them. By keeping these ideas in mind you will be able to remain fashionable even in the bitter cold.
