On Monday, HBO released the first teaser for Curb Your Enthusiasm, – a highly anticipated comedy that is set to return for season nine this Fall on Oct. 1. 2017.
The comedy first graced viewers eyes back in 2000 and then went off the air in 2011. Curb Your Enthusiasm stars Seinfeld co-creator Larry David, who plays an over-the-top fictionalized version of himself. His character faces a constant barrage of life’s little annoyances, which is portrayed in a comical way.
“We’re thrilled that Larry has decided to do a new season of ‘Curb’ and can’t wait to see what he has planned,” Casey Bloys, HBO programming president told Variety.
With 80 episodes from its 11-year run, the show returns nearly six years later with not only David but with the original cast members as well, Variety reported. These cast members include Jeff Garlin– who currently stars in ABC’s The Goldbergs– Cheryl Hines, JB Smoove, and Susie Essman. Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen are also said to appear in the series as themselves.
During his hiatus, David– now 70-years-old–starred in 2013 film Clear History, 2012 film The Three Stooges, made a Broadway debut in his play Fish in the Dark in 2015, and played Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont several times during the most recent season of Saturday Night Live.
Asked why he decided to come back, David said, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned,” Variety reported.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is HBO’s longest-running scripted comedy or drama series and is a two-time Emmy-winning comedy as well. Season nine premieres this fall and will be a 10-episode season.
Along with Curb Your Enthusiasm, other shows coming back to HBO between this summer and next year include Insecure, Westworld, Tru Detective, The Deuce, High Maintenance, Divorce, Vice Prinicpals, Ballers and Hard Knocks.
