“We Remember 911” and “Boston Strong, two signs that are displayed throughout the newest McDonalds commercial that displays messages of remembrance of national and global devastations.
McDonalds newest commercial, which was aired during the Golden Globe Awards Ceremony and the NFL playoff games, is being talked about because many people are unsure how to feel about the company’s use of patriotism to build their image in today’s society.
Some people believe that the advertisement is heartwarming and caring, while some believe that the advertisement is just a way for McDonalds to reinvent and polish up their image.
The “We Remember 911” and the “Boston Strong” messages is aimed to hit right at the hearts of America’s throughout the country, while others depict more personal messages which thanked veterans and wished members of local communities a happy birthday.
McDonalds claims that they are working on focusing the “loving” message, that is inside their memorable, “I’m Loving It” slogan. Deborah Wahl, chief marketing officer for McDonald’s USA, said that the advertising was made to show the McDonalds has been there for communities through the good and bad times. That is why they depicted different slogans of support.
The real question is did McDonalds make this advertisement because they want to win back the consumers hearts, so they continue to eat at their restaurants? Of course it is, anyway you look at the commercial it’s still an advertisement. Although McDonalds is still one of the leading names in fast food and restaurant chains, their numbers have been slowly declining. This message could be trying to say, “Hey remember we were always there for you, so support us.”
