As the pressure on Donald Trump mounts over inciting violence in Washington, a police officer has succumbed to injuries sustained in the mob attack by pro-Trump supporters, triggering the Democratic demand for the incumbent’s removal from office by invoking the 25th constitutional amendment.
Nancy Pelosi and other key Democratic congressional leaders have asked Vice President Pence and other Cabinet members to take action against the incumbent. However, Pence’s advisor later maintained that Trump’s aide was against invoking the constitutional article to remove Trump from the presidential office. Besides that, the House Speaker vowed to initiate an impeachment trial if the Cabinet fails to take any actions, but that move is unlikely to bear any fruit as Trump has only two weeks in the White House.

Surprisingly, Trump scummed to the pressure by several academics, former political, and Democratic and Republican, and condemned the chaos as a “heinous attack.” The unprecedented assault on the monument of American democracy came hours after the incumbent incited his supporters to march on the US capitol to express their anger over the country’s electoral process.
Meanwhile, the police said in a statement that a total of five people have died in the Capitol riots, including police officer Brian Sicknick, who sustained severe injuries while physically engaging with the rioters. But soon after the law enforcement agencies took back control of the Capitol premises, US Congress resumed their activity and certified Biden’s victory, rejecting Republican objections in Arizona and Pennsylvania. Now, President-elect Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris are scheduled to assume the office on January 20.
On Thursday, the incumbent took to Twitter and said in a video, “Now Congress has certified the results a new administration will be inaugurated on January 20th.” Many are seeing his comments as the closest acceptance of his defeat in the November polls. He further added that his main focus remains an orderly and smooth transition of power.
President said that he immediately deployed the National Guard to expel the intruders from the Capitol, even though some media reports claimed that he had resisted the idea initially. Besides that, the Washington police officials have said that they have taken more than sixty-eight people into custody.
In a surprising move, another key cabinet member and one of the longest-serving Trump aides, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, resigned from his office following the Capitol fiasco and blamed the incumbent for inciting violence. This was the second resignation of the day as Trump’s Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao was the first to distance himself from President Trump.
