Police in the state of Seattle battled with crowds who were protesting against anti-racism. The lastest clash happened during one of the tensest of Saturday’s multiple rallies across the country.

The police used stun grenades and pepper spray when the demonstrators started a fire and broke windows in a demonstration to show support for Portland protests.

Authorities detained forty-five individuals, with 21 police wounded.

There is a case of homicide in Austin, Texas, during a Black Lives Matter march.

Police told reporters that initial reports stated that the victim could have carried a rifle. He then confronted a vehicle from where he was shot and killed by a person.  The police are working with the suspect after they arrested him.

Violent protests in Portland between demonstrators and federal officers sent by President Donald Trump brought fresh momentum to the marches.

Seattle protest

In Seattle, thousands of demonstrators had marched peacefully in the summer, holding banners. The banners said, “Feds go home” and “We live in a police state” and chanting “No justice, no peace.”

A party then set fire to a juvenile rehabilitation center at a building site before shattering the windows of a courthouse and surrounding businesses, police said. Officials said officers were hit with rocks, bottles, fireworks, and mortars, and one of them is in the hospital with a leg injury. Furthermore, Police proclaimed the protests to be a riot and claimed they were examining if the crowd made use of an explosive weapon against a police precinct. There are no reported injuries.

More

After George Floyd died in custody in May, Seattle has witnessed mass demonstrations against injustice and police violence, as has Portland. The intensity of protest reduced after the dismantling of a police-free protest zone in the city earlier this month following a couple of shootings.

What else has changed in the US?

A car crashed into a crowd in Aurora, Colorado; however, there are no reported casualties. An individual sustained an injury the same March when a gunman “decided to shoot a gun,” police said. The individual is currently in hospital in a safe condition.

Protesters in the city have recalled a 23-year-old black man Elijah McClain who died last August after officers arrested him.

Hundreds of supporters of a black militia in Louisville sought justice for Breonna Taylor. Police shot her after storming her flat in March.

The party marched in line, bringing semi-automatic weapons and shotguns to a fenced-off junction. The police segregated them from a smaller group of armed counter-protesters. There was no report of any incident.
