Brian Recker and Donnie Griggs were on the beach at Cape Lookout off the coast of North Carolina, when they captured a video of nearly 100 sharks feeding on bluefish, Tuesday Oct. 9th. After posting to YouTube, the video has gone wild!
“As seagulls and pelicans joined in on the meal, the men began to cast into the surf, catching fish without the use of bait. For more than five minutes, the sharks were observed swimming in and out of the surf, some of which became beached in the fury,” Recker wrote under the video.
As the camera pans from left to right, zooming in and out, Griggs tries to get a closer look at the sharks fins and tails. At one point you can to see the entire body of a shark desperately trying to grab a fish as the wave subsides.
“Rare Shark Feeding Frenzy” has been viewed at least 100,000 times since Monday. Posted on Brian Reckers YouTube channel and shot by Donnie Griggs who is an ‘avid waterman who spear fishes, dives, swims and surfs at Cape Lookout often.
The species of sharks have not been identified. Recker says that despite the presence of the sharks, the beach is extremely safe to swim in. He adds that both the bluefish and sharks are signs of a healthy ecosystem.
