Tiger Woods showed up in Italy to surprise his girlfriend after her record setting World Cup Performance. Photographers saw Woods while on the slopes, and noticed that Tiger was missing a tooth after he pulled his skeleton mask down off his face.
Woods was wearing the mask, along with sunglasses, a scarf, and a stocking cap, in order to try and be low key, so he could surprise his girlfriend. He met with Von’s father, Alan Kidlow, who escorted him where the skiers gather, and after the race he surprised his girlfriend and gave her a hug.
How did Woods lose his tooth and why did no one hear about it? Well it turns out that he’s missing his tooth because he had a serious altercation with a member of the media.
Mark Steinberg, of Excel Sports, stated, “During a crush of photographers as the awards podium at the World Cup event in Italy, a media member with a shoulder-mounted video camera pushed and surged toward the stage, turned and hit Tiger Woods in the mouth. Woods’ tooth was knocked out by the incident.”
No report of the incident was made. Woods knew of the potential risks of his presence at the event and hired extra security and hired a snowmobile to exit the finish area, the organizers met both his requests.
Nicola Colli, the security general for the race told AP, ”I was among those who escorted him from the tent to the snowmobile and there was no such incident. When he arrived he asked for more security and we rounded up police to look after both him and Lindsey.”
Woods has had a long battle with camera and photographers, and has a short temper for them, in particularly when their flashes go off during his games, and especially when he is mid-swing.
