Afghan Villager who Saved Marcus Luttrell is in Hiding

An Afghan villager has gone into hiding after saving a United States military official was brought to the big screen.

Mohammad Gulab has been receiving numerous death threats from Taliban officials. He is trying to flee to America, but is having difficulty getting to American, according to his lawyer.

Mohammad Gulab received a lot of attention after he aided Marcus Luttrell, as well as three other Navy Seals, when they were attacked by Taliban forces while the Navy Seals were in Afghanistan.

Luttrell acknowledges Gulab for his assistance and stated that the only reason he survived was because Gulab brought him back to his home, after Luttrell’s comrades were killed, and that is where they would wait until American allies would come and rescue the injured soldier.

The whole story could be seen in the 2013 “Lone Survivor,” the film that has caused a lot of stress for the Afghan citizen.

Although the film brought a lot of attention to the event, as soon as Gulab rescued Lautrell he had to move out of the village and the home where the rescuing took place. He has been attacked and even shot in the leg while out in public.

He wants to escape to America, but he has a little while to wait because of the bureaucracy process. His fate essentially lies in a New York-based immigration attorney’s hands.

Michael Wildes, the attorney responsible for his case stated, “The Department of Homeland Security is currently reviewing his file to determine whether or not they would put in a request with the United Nations to have him relocated to U.S. based on what he did.”

If anyone saw the movie or has heard the story, there should be no question about aiding Gulad because Lautrell would not be alive today without his assistance. Yes there is a process that needs to be proceeded with, but that should be sped up knowing that the man’s life is on the ropes.
