BuzzFeed has released a powerful video where four non-Muslim women are asked to wear a hijab for one day. Literally taking a walk in someone else’s shoes, these women were able to experience a way of life extremely different than they are used to.
In America, women are not required to wear a hijab and many women even see it as a form of oppression against sexuality. In the video it’s explained that the majority of women wear a hijab as a form of modesty and to not so much hide outward beauty but to reveal a sense of inner intellectual beauty.
With this slightly different aspect, watch the video below with an open mind and ask yourself if you would take on this challenge for a day. Would you have a new appreciation for other cultures or would you find yourself appreciating your own even more? Women will always find a way to express themselves, whether it is their outward or inner beauty, there is always a story to be told to those willing to take a moment and listen.
