The apartment Thomas Eric Duncan was staying in has been evacuated for cleaning. The three-faze cleaning began on Friday, October 4th, 2014 and finished this Sunday.
Duncan is presently in critical condition and being held in isolation in a Dallas Hospital. He was staying with four family members; his partner, identified as “Louis,” his 13 year old daughter and two twenty something nephews, when the ambulance rushed him to the hospital.
His family members were kept inside the apartment until this Friday, when released, they were moved to a 4 room home. They will stay there until Oct. 19th, long enough to know if any of them are infected with Ebola. When speaking with Anderson Cooper, “Louis” said Duncan’s bed sheets, remained and pillow cases where not changed. The only thing changed was the towel he used.
The Fire department along with a local cleaning company made their way into the apartment last Friday afternoon. Meanwhile, the community has been kept in the dark about safety precautions. Most of them, immigrants from Africa and Asia are not English speakers. A mother of seven, told reporters she’s been keeping her children inside the apartment since the news broke. No one from neighboring apartments have been evacuated, most have stayed inside or on their balconies observing the cleaning.
It took the company, wearing hazmat suits, three days to finish cleaning the apartment as well as changed the blinds, drapes and carpets.
