The former wide receiver for the New York Giants, Victor Cruz, has officially retired from the NFL. He will soon join ESPN as an NFL analyst.
Cruz, 31, totaled 4549 yards over 70 career games. He made the Pro Bowl in 2012 and won Super Bowl XLVIII with the Giants, accumulating 269 total yards in four playoff games.
Cruz was limited to playing in just six games in 2014 after he tore his patellar tendon. He missed the next season as well due to a calf injury.
Cruz was born in Paterson, New Jersey, a short distance from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Cruz was one of the most electrifying players in the league during his prime years of production.
His patented “salsa” touchdown celebration helped make him a fan favorite among the Big Blue faithful.
Cruz had been planning his next career move for a while. He was not given a real chance to make a team after he parted with the Giants a year ago, so he has decided to enact said plan. He will no doubt utilize his charming presence in his next position with ESPN.
